Looking at Cambridge City, East Cambridgeshire, South Cambridgeshire, Fenland, Huntingdonshire and Fenland areas
This was created by Cambridgeshire County council looking at the levels of deprivation and poverty across Cambridgeshire, as well as access to public services.
“Compared to 2015, Cambridge, South Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire and Peterborough now rank as more deprived in national terms than previously. East Cambridgeshire ranks as less deprived. Fenland has not changed rank.”
“Cambridgeshire and Peterborough has 62 LSOAs in the 20% most relatively deprived nationally – six more than in 2015.”
“Nine of the top 10 most deprived LSOAs in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are in Peterborough.”
“Living Environment domain ranks the lowest (most deprived) out of the domain in Cambridge City when ranked against all other local authorities nationally (51/317).”
This means that out of the 317 districts in England, Cambridge City has been ranked as the district with the 51st worst living environment, placing it in the bottom 17%.
“Cambridge City has become relatively less deprived since the IMD 2015 as it previously ranked at 221/317” where it is now 210th.
Cambridge city is also ranked 95/317 for crime and 96/317 for “Barriers to housing and services”.
The most deprived areas are Abbey and King’s Hedges.

Most rankings however are relatively high

Fenland is the “most deprived area in Cambridgeshire”
“There are 11 LSOAs in the top 20% most deprived in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough in Fenland, 4 of which are in the 10% most relatively deprived nationally”
“The Education, Skills & Training domain ranks the lowest out of the domains in Fenland when ranked against all other local authorities nationally (3/317).”
“The Living Environment domain ranks the highest out of the domain in Fenland (204/317).”
“Within Fenland, income deprivation affecting older people (IDAOPI) is less prevalent than that with children (IDACI), but only by one decile rank (IDAOPI =5, IDACI = 4, where 1 is the most deprived).”

Huntingdonshire is ranked as the 3rd most deprived of the 5 Cambridgeshire districts

In Cambridgeshire, between March 2020 and August 2020, Claimant Count increased from 6,505 to 17,270, an increase of 10,765
This represents a 165.49% increase
In Great Britain as a whole, for this time period Claimant Count increased from 1,238,420 to 2,625,750, an increase of 1,387,330
This represents a 112.02% increase
This means there is a 47.73% difference in claimant count between Cambridgeshire and Great Britain as a whole
